Tuesday, November 10, 2020, 7:00 P.M. CDT

Looking towards 2021 with the hindsight of an “unprecedented” 2020.  2020 will go down in history as a year to remember – for good and bad. As the reality of Covid-19 and its impact on the economy hit, “unprecedented” may have become one of the most commonly used words to describe global events this year: the extent and speed of the sell-off of financial markets in March, the scale and scope of monetary policy response globally and the subsequent magnitude and divergence of recovery. Three of APAC’s highly respected investment leaders will join us in this webinar to discuss what lies ahead for markets in 2021, the investment strategies most suited to this environment and how to position portfolios for what looks set to be another unprecedented year ahead.

100 Women in Finance Webinar: Navigating Unconscious Bias to Build Conscious Inclusion
Monday, November 16, 2020, 11:00 A.M. CDT

Research reaffirms the strong business case for gender, ethnic and cultural diversity in corporate leadership. The most diverse companies are now more likely than ever to outperform less diverse peers on profitability, innovation, engagement and retention.

More often than not, an unconscious bias can get in the way of recruiting, retaining, mentoring and promoting diverse candidates, especially at the senior levels. When you understand the science of bias, you are equipped to act and make yourself, your colleagues and your firm more consciously inclusive, which is essential to creating a more diverse workplace.

Strengthen your ability to navigate unconscious bias and learn how to be a leader in moving towards a more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace.

Speakers:

  • Catherine Allegra of IHS Markit
  • Eric Maldonado of IHS Markit
  • Deann Morgan of Nuveen
  • Amy O’Brien of Nuveen
  • Corie Pauling of Nuveen (Moderator)

NRS: Trading Practices, Portfolio Compliance and Related Enforcement Cases
Thursday, November 12, 2020. 12:00 PM-2:00 P.M. CDT

Nicole Kalajian of Stradley Ronon and National Regulatory Services will focus on critical risk areas of portfolio compliance. Managing a client’s portfolio within relevant limitations and objectives is one of the most important fiduciary responsibilities of an investment adviser. Investment advisers are responsible for knowing their clients’ investment policies, guidelines and mandates, as well as any other applicable investment restrictions, and for managing their clients’ accounts strictly in accordance with such guidelines and restrictions. The SEC views consistency of portfolio management decisions with clients’ mandates as a primary internal control process.

After attending this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Manage portfolio trading compliance, including client restrictions, allocation and aggregation procedures and testing.
  • Assess and implement an effective compliance trading system so that your firm can operate in a manner consistent with industry best practices.
  • Examine the intersection of compliance, trading and operations to help detect and eliminate questionable trading activity that could lead to compliance violations and SEC fines.
  • Recognize complex trading arrangements and pinpoint compliance red flags.
  • Evaluate approaches to portfolio compliance monitoring.
  • Extract lessons to be learned from relevant SEC enforcement cases.
