With financial markets facing trade tensions, talk of a looming recession, global economic slowdown, Brexit, negative yielding debt, and central banks running out of ammunition, what are the key issues on which investors should focus? Blu Putnam is Chief Economist for CME Group, the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, where he is responsible for leading global economic analysis. Putnam brings decades of experience in the financial services industry with concentrations in central banking, investment research and portfolio management. He has published in the American Economic Review and Journal of Finance. His latest book, Economics Gone Astray, explains in plain English why economists get so many of their forecasts wrong.
