REMINDER: TradersEXPO Chicago
July 21-23, 2019
Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, South Building, 2233 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Chicago, IL
The Ultimate Educational Event for Active Traders.
For years TradersEXPO has sought to educate beginning and experienced traders about the best new and established trading strategies and techniques. This year’s TradersEXPO Chicago will continue that tradition and provide much more. We are going back to our roots and tapping the markets and exchanges that launched the derivatives revolution that led to the creation of so many products we trade today.
TradersEXPO is a place where new ideas are launched and where attendees can separate themselves from the crowd. The world of trading – along with the world in general – is filled with greater risk and greater potential rewards. So, it is appropriate that we are here in Chicago, the center of risk management and the home of innovative markets.

Chicago SRI/ESG Happy Hour
Tuesday, July 30, 2019, 4:30-6:30 P.M.
Cactus Bar & Grill, 404 S. Wells, Chicago, IL (Drinks: Buy your own)
To promote networking outside of our breakfast discussions, including for summer interns interested in ESG and responsible/impact investing, we are organizing a summer-time happy hour for investment professionals looking to trade stories and meet others working in our field.
Unlike our breakfasts, we will not have any formal presentations; this is purely about meeting people and community building. Many of the local ESG leaders will be in attendance, so it should be a great opportunity to hear different perspectives, learn about careers and meet peers.
Feel free to share this invitation with your interns or others in your network who may be interested in joining us.
If you would like to attend, let us know via reply email (email@example.com) by July 25, 2019.

David Cohn, Principal and leader in RSM’s Technology and Management Consulting practice will discuss risk and opportunity around mergers and acquisitions, integration planning framework and integration trends, all which will help improve success and increase value.

REMINDER: FREE: Investment Network: Code Is Law – A Practical Primer on Software and Structured Data in Evidence
Thursday, August 8, 2019, 12:15-1:00 P.M. (bring your own lunch)
Stradley Ronon, 191 N. Wacker Drive, #1601, Chicago, IL
Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig famously proclaimed in the late 1990s that “Code Is Law,” a maxim which continues to resonate along a variety of dimensions two decades later. This talk will examine one dimension along the nexus of code and law: Software, structured data, and related documentary evidence.
Software, structured data, and related evidence such as computer code, databases, and software project documentation may arise in the context of legal, investigatory, and regulatory compliance matters. Understanding the nature and import of such evidence can present significant challenges. This talk is intended for professionals, particularly in the financial, compliance and legal services spaces, who may encounter this kind of technical evidence and would benefit from a more robust understanding its potential roles and usage.
In this talk, a practical overview will be provided of potential roles and usage of technical evidence such as software and structured data in litigation, disputes, and investigations with a focus on financial markets. We’ll discuss various contexts in which such evidence may arise and the types of materials that may be available in an evidentiary context, as well as tools and techniques to summarize or visualize those materials, either for the purpose of internal review or for the production of demonstratives. Finally, we’ll review select regulatory guidance and compliance considerations for financial firms with respect to technical documentation.
Presented by: Moderator Nicole Kalajian of Stradley Ronon; Speakers: Dr. Collin Starkweather of Starkweather Economics, LLC and Dr. Izzy Nelken of Super Computer Consulting. Attendees will benefit from the speakers’ combined decades of experience both with software and database design, implementation and analysis and with litigation and compliance support and should come away with an improved understanding of how these materials may be used effectively or preemptively in a litigation, investigatory, or compliance setting.
