FREE: Washington DC Compliance Roundtable: SEC Senior Investors Regulatory Overview with Stephen Deane of the SEC
Thursday, May 9, 2019, 3:30-4:30 PM (with Networking to Follow)
Stradley Ronon, 191 N. Wacker Dr., #1601, Chicago, IL (Webcast with DC office)

Join us for a lively discussion with Stephen Deane, CFA Engagement Advisor, Office of the Investor Advocate, of the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) regarding senior investor regulations.  Moderated by Alan Goldberg and Nicole Kalajian of Stradley Ronon.

Mr. Deane advises the SEC Investor Advocate on combatting elderly financial exploitation and is the author of the White Paper, “Elder Financial Exploitation: Why it is a concern, what regulators are doing about it, and looking ahead.” He spoke on protecting seniors at a Yale Law School Alumni Breakfast and was interviewed on that topic last year by the Wall Street Journal.

Stephen serves as the principal SEC staff liaison to the SEC Investor Advisory Committee. He spearheaded the first-ever SEC Town Hall with all commissioners outside Washington, D.C. He also organizes and participates in investor outreach visits around the country. In addition, Stephen focuses on financial reporting, accounting and auditing, corporate governance, sustainability and disclosure issues. He was the first SEC employee to join the Office of the Investor Advocate five years ago and has helped to shape and define it.
